This is honestly one of the best Airbnbs we’ve stayed at this year!

Waking up to the ocean views, being just a short drive from the beach, and having kangaroos as our neighbours — it really felt like a dream. We got to see kangaroos almost every day, which made the whole experience even more special!

The house itself is absolutely beautiful, with a perfect blend of modern comfort and classic Australian charm. It’s spacious, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay.

The location is fantastic too, with easy access to Kangaroo Island’s beautiful beaches and major attractions.

Sue and Andy were also wonderful hosts — always friendly, quick to respond, and happy to help whenever we needed anything.

We genuinely loved every moment of our stay. It felt like our own little slice of paradise on Kangaroo Island.

This place is the ultimate relaxing getaway. Spacious, silent, well-equipped, and with staggeringly beautiful views in every direction. We spent a glorious five days at this property, and whilst we were keen to see the sights of KI, there were days when we were content to stay put and enjoy the joys of the property, which are many; the kangaroo population, the birds, and the amazing sea views - the view from the kitchen window alone is priceless. Our stay at this property was, without question, our best AirBNB experience. The location is purely surreal and magically peaceful and private. There are an abundance of kangaroos, and observing them graze and play is among the greatest pleasures of staying at this property. Locating and accessing the property was a breeze due to superb instructions, and the house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Aside from the surroundings, I especially loved the living room area with the fireplace. This was a very cozy spot to unwind and relax. Such a fantastic stay! The house was clean, super comfortable, and beautifully kept.

The outdoor scenery is pure Australian magic exactly like Tom Roberts' iconic masterpiece A break away, a print of which is wonderfully hung right inside the house!

We loved drinking our morning coffee while watching our friendly kangaroo neighbors graze just meters away on the lawn.

Absolutely gorgeous place, we honestly couldn’t fault it. The house was spotless, warm and welcoming, and had such a lovely, relaxed feel to it. Our two young children had an absolute ball exploring the house and the beautiful surrounds, but the highlight for them was definitely the kangaroos coming right up to be hand-fed, it kept them entertained for hours! Often there are kangaroos on the patio. We saw a small joey that would sometimes ride upside down with his feet sticking out. Wild. On top of the quiet, beautiful location the house itself is large and so well appointed.

My partner and I stayed here with another couple for 4 nights. We were absolutely blown away by the stunning, panoramic sea views and the beautifully and thoughtfully furnished place with lots of quirky curios and impressive antiques but also with all of the mod cons. The house and its location is the best airbnb I've stayed in. The view from the house reminded me of being on a hilltop in Greece and looking out over the sparkling Aegean. So much glittering sea. (Admittedly we had great weather) But totally Australian at the same time with sheep and kangaroos and gum trees and very golden fields. Every morning you wake up to an oil painting.
The kitchen is beautifully equipped. Views from three picture windows. Lovely dining and sitting areas. Your own family of kangaroos resting on the patio. Susan Mary is very friendly and helpful. Please note, you absolutely have to bring all food and wine and fill up your petrol. Otherwise you will have to drive about an hour each way to Kinsgcote. The supermarket in Parndana is 30 minutes away, but doesn't have a lot of stock and the petrol station is not open on weekends. Or wasn't, this weekend.

This fantastic accommodation cannot be described with words. We lived with kangaroos, koalas and many other animals. No sounds of civilisation, absolute peace, absolute seclusion and a beautiful lovingly furnished house. Sue and Andy were always available and helped us a lot, especially when arriving at the ferry. The wallabies in the garden are tame and come immediately when someone comes out, they also use the seat to rest, which has allowed us to take many great photos. Some come very close. Very nice home with extraordinary views of the ocean and fields. The beautiful beaches nearby (Snelling, our favourite) are so beautiful.
The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds comfortable with quality bedding. The ultra-modern bathrooms are very clean. The washing machines are very good.

This place is magical. As soon as we arrived, kangaroos greeted us near the pergola of the house, they are adorable.

The most magical Airbnb we ever rented, worth every single penny. The house is huge enough to house 4 adults and 4 kids. The ocean view through the big window in kitchen worth a million bucks. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a big breakfast or decent dinner for the whole party! Andy and Sue left a jar of honey for us, which was super sweet. The most magical activities were Kangaroo feeding: when the Sun goes down, many roos in the neighbourhood show up, some were brave enough to approach us and feed directly from our hands! The kids were having a great time, and all agree these wonderful memories would stay with us forever. We met Andy at the estate, he provided a lot of valuable tips for us such as where to find wild Koalas and Kangaroo. I cannot say enough thank you to Sue and Andy. Words cannot fully describe this beautiful and peaceful property! We spent a lot of time outside on the steps admiring the unbelievable view and watching the kangaroos spending time in their habitat. An absolutely perfect holiday home. We celebrated my 50th with 3 couples, and given the size of the house everyone was very comfortable. 3 beautiful bathrooms also made things very easy.

The views and location are obviously incredible, but what struck us was the interior design. Walking in for the first time was an absolute wow moment, the styling is so cool. Beautiful and eclectic artwork and furniture cleverly placed around the huge living area means you have tonnes of space but it still feels cosy. We had some amazing weather while we were there but we also had some stormy days...it just didn't matter. We all sat around the fire in the lounge and dining area looking out over the incredible views watching the storms pass.

We absolutely love Kangaroo Island, and have been many times, but this trip was an absolute stand out thanks to our beautiful accomodation!

Finally, Sue and Andy were just brilliant, you could not ask for a better hosts!

WOW! I have travelled to numerous places around the world and this is hands down the best airbnb I have ever stayed at. The property is just SO unique and special. It is just like the pictures and at the same time SO much better. What a BEAUTIFUL property inside and out. SO peaceful and relaxing. it is so magical you feel so tempted to just spend all of your holiday exploring and enjoying the surroundings of the home.

My boys had the experience of their life hand feeding the friendly kangaroos. We were so sad when it was time to leave, trying to take in every second of our stay there.

Sue was so great and responsive. Kangaroo Island itself was so beautiful. We saw seals and even saw a Koala crossing the road.

When we drove up to the house there were a family of kangaroos waiting to greet us as they continued to do each morning when we woke up. Seeing and feeding them each day was a highlight.

The view from the property is amazing and the house is one of a kind. It is spacious and the owners have provided a well equipped property. The kitchen extras are appreciated especially when you are travelling from out of the country.

Sue provided detailed information well in advance of us arriving (including things to do) and detailed information and instructions to help us while we were on the island.

Don’t think twice about booking this property. It is a private location that is a bit remote but with Sue’s information and welcome notes you will be rewarded.

A truly special stay at Grass Tree North Coast

Our stay at Grass Tree North Coast was absolutely wonderful. The home is beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need, including a fantastic kitchen, comfortable living spaces, and even a washer/dryer that came in handy after returning soaked from Flinders Chase.

The views are panoramic, the gardens are stunning, and the house itself is spacious and welcoming. It's perfect for a family getaway. We loved the collection of board games, which made for fun evenings together when the weather rolled in.

When ferry cancellations meant we couldn’t return to the mainland, the hosts were incredibly kind in letting us extend our stay for two extra nights in the spur of the moment. That flexibility made all the difference.

“Sue’s Grass Tree House in Middle River was perfection. Private, with incredible views inside and out. We were drawn outside and spent most of our time enjoying the beautifully kept lawn with the rolling hills and ocean as the backdrop. Inside the home we enjoyed the rustic charms along with the wood burning fireplace. We spent our days here, inside and out, in Awe. The rooms were spotless, the beds were comfy and the pantry was stocked. Sue was always responsive. You can’t get a better host. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.”

“Wow! Sue’s place on Kangaroo Island was an absolute paradise. The views to the hills and the ocean are just stunning. The sunsets and sunrises are like a dream. Every single day we saw kangaroos all over the hillsides and coming right up to the house. Seeing the kangaroos so close — including a mother and joey — was the highlight of the trip for our two young children. The wildlife on this island is truly amazing! We saw kangaroos, wallabies, eagles, an echidna, quokka and koalas. The wild koalas were just sleeping in the trees only minutes away on the side of the road. The house is wonderfully comfortable and has everything one could possibly need, including beach chairs, beach towels and a beach shade shelter. We saw so many pristine beaches that were never crowded. At times we were the only ones on the beach. It really is such a special place and an absolute natural paradise here. This has been one of our very favorite vacations. Thank you for the memories!”
